tuesday, i bought a new powerbook. i found one in stock locally (at pictureline, of all places!) last week, and spent the weekend in moab debating over whether or not to take the plunge. i came back and called them up - they still had it in stock, so i drove over and liberated it.

it is, for all intents and purposes, sexy as all get-out.

previously, i had a 15" TiBook 667mhz. the step up to the 17" 1ghz is so amazingly satisfying. graphics response is much snappier, even when driving an external monitor. my old reliable TiBook doesn't have enough video memory to drive both the internal LCD and an external monitor - the new 17" PB has plenty to spare, plus more video horsepower under the hood. the beefier CPU and addition of L3 cache doesn't hurt either.

now i'm trying to fight off the urge to upgrade my iPod using SmallDog's trade-up program. i will likely eventually cave-in on this front too. i saw one of the new slim 15GB models while at pictureline - another customer had one that he was showing off - and they are slimmer, lighter, and generally groovier.

mat took the plunge and set up a livejournal, something that had been poking at the outskirts of my brain for quite a while. it looks like he's getting into the groove of things, so i figured i might as well jump in too.

SOON, ALL OF OUR FRIENDS WILL BE DOING IT. OH, YES. YOU'RE NEXT.

in other news - do you like my sexy picture? oh, yes. the sunglasses & smirk really make it. as mark would say - somebody stepped in a big pile of sassy!
